”No Slack and No Quit” features Blaine Roberts dragging calves at the Tongue River Ranch on “TRR Royal Gold”, aka “Tex”. The reference photos were gathered for this piece in the spring of 2019 when I went to the ranch for photos of the “Tex” for the 2018 Top Horse of the Texas Ranch Roundup portrait. I chose the title because, year after year, I’ve watched the young people at the ranch hustle harder than anyone on the crew! They are working to earn the respect of the men who they look up to and learning the value and satisfaction of hard work and accomplishment! Blaine is a perfect example of that! He is already a very accomplished roper and horseman and will only continue to get better under the watchful eye of his family and the crew!
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 ESV
