My subject is, of course, Gracie, the daughter of Quentin and Angela Marburger of the Tongue River Ranch, New Mexico division. I am so grateful to know this incredible young lady. Not only is she beautiful inside and out, she is also her father’s right hand girl! She and her family are very special to me and it is truly an honor to have the opportunity to portray them in their day to day lives. The reference photo for this piece was taken at the spring works at the Tongue River Ranch in 2018. The riders were holding the herd in the corner at the Camp Holler pens to sort off bulls and drys. Gracie was relaxed but watchful on her gelding, “Dakota” (aka “TRR Judys Gotta Gun”)
I will be forever grateful for each and every trip I take to the Tongue River to gather reference material! This time was very special, though, having had the chance to spend time with and photograph Gracie! She also appears in “Young Guns” and “Daughter of Tradition” and you can be sure this will not be the last!
